I believe that successful therapy is based on a good relationship. In a safe and supportive environment I can help you change how you see yourself and the
world, improve communication with others, identify
self-needs, rediscover your unique gifts, and create and
maintain healthy boundaries. All of these can help you create the life that you want to live.
I work with adolescents and adults, couples, families, and
groups. In addition to talk therapy, I use variety of methods
including mindfulness and breath work, biofeedback, and EMDr for trauma
recovery, performance enhancement (e.g., for athletes, muscicians,
etc), and other situations.
I have specialized training and experience regarding active duty soldiers and veterans, and individuals from the GLBTQ community including those with HIV/AIDS. I also have a health care background, which helps me work with individuals and families dealing with health related issues.
I have training and experience working with senior citizens, many of whom have chronic mental and or physical conditions. I have extensive experience working with men and offer an on-going men's group. With over 20 years of experience as a mid-level state manager, I understand the issues affecting business professionals.
I believe in the power of story, poetry, and metaphor and often use these in my work.
