Mental Health Access Program
The Mental Health Access Program seeks to provide mental health services to uninsured and underserved individuals of Thurston County while building community among mental health professionals and other providers. Clients 18 years and older will be accepted after being screened by selected referring medical/mental health professionals. MHAP provides free brief therapy (approximately 4 visits) and will be targeting clients who might be responsive and successful in this environment.
Criteria for Successful Referrals:
- Adults age 18 and above.
- Uninsured or under-insured with no mental health benefits.
- Adjustment disorder with anxiety or depressed mood that might be responsive to brief therapy.
- No history of sexual offense or violent behaviors.
- Access to a primary care provider/prescribing provider if medication treatment is required.
- Clients who are motivated and interested in participating in therapy.
Services Provided at MHAP:
In the initial phase of operation, the following services will be provided one evening a week in four-week cycles: Individual counseling and roup counseling focusing on depression and anxiety.
