Therapeutic Style and Specialties:
My
work is with adult individuals and couples who are experiencing
important life transitions, grief and loss, stress and aniety,
depression and loss of self confidence, and who are involved in
relationships that range from disappointing to traumatic. Through
a rewarding collaboration in therapy, clients learn to let go of old
patterns, discover inner resources, and realize deeper potential.
Our complex world demands increasingly more mental and emotional
sophistication in order to live healthfully, authentically and
humanely. Personal growth is no longer a luxury, but a necessary
key to living well in our culture.
Through supportive interpersonal therapy, clients reach into more authentic parts of themselves, that can perceive and begin to meet their own needs more effectively. As they develop mindful awareness of their experiencing, deeper acceptance and compassion for self and others emerges. Cognitive and behavioral tools for lasting change are developed.
Where appropriate for clients, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help them resolve traumatic experiences, facilitating a transformation in how they perceive and experience themselves, their relationships and their world. I am certified as an EMDR practitioner by the EMDR International Association.
With over 20 years of experience I continue to respectfully create a
safe and open-hearted space for clients to do the work, create the
growth they desire to do.
