Therapeutic Style and Specialties:
Individual and couples' counseling for adults and older adolescents dealing with transitions, relationship issues, family of origin, depression, anxiety, grief and loss; psychotherapy, parenting support, psychoeducation and stress reduction. My approach is holistic, pragmatic and collaborative. My theoretical orientation is developmental (looking at the stage of life of each person or family), systemic (looking at the systems to which the person belongs, including family, ethnicity, culture, class, religion) and existential (we are all challenged by the human condition and we all seek meaning for our lives). Plain talk and humor are also essential to my work. Particular interests include applyig mindfulness and other meditation techniques to everyday life; spirtuality as both a source of meaning and avenue of wellness; grief and mourning (including end-of-life issues and anticipatory grief).
