I
am a counselor with more than 25 years experience helping people grow
through life's challenges. With respect, curiosity, and compassion, I
provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to address their
difficulties and to create new strategies for living.
Through our work together, clients generally become more satisfied and engaged with life.
I work with adults who need help dealing with depression, anxiety, as well as issues related to aging, loss, change, and transitions. I have extensive experience helping clients deal with the emotional aspects of acute and chronic illness.
I provide services to individual clients, to couples, and periodically offer groups.
I am experienced in many therapeutic methods and tailor a plan to meet the unique background, needs, and strengths of each client. I may help clients examine their thinking and the meaning they give to their problems, as well as behaviors that are helping or hindering. We may look at the dynamics of the relationships that clients have with family, friends, co-workers, and community. I also may have clients work with their creativity through art, drama, or writing.
Current methodologies I utilize include the Internal Family System model, mindfulness and stress reduction, cognitive/behavioral, narrative and other expressive approaches.
I am an approved supervisor and have provided clinical and administrative supervision to many clinicians, including those seeking certification.
