Therapeutic Style and Specialties:

Every individual has inherent survival, coping, healing and thriving abilities that can help one to find balance and joy under many circumstances. Sometimes assistance is needed to help these inherent abilities develop. My underlying philosophy and approach to therapy honors the resources you already have and seeks to build on them in an accepting, gentle, expressive and humorous atmosphere.

I work with children ages 11 and up, teens and adults. While working with a broad spectrum of individuals and couples in their quest to achieve balance and joy, I specialize in recovery from domestic or sexual abuse, issues associated with lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender identity, anti-oppression, and culturally competent work with the Latino community.

Integration of the mind/body are central to my practice. We may utilize:

• EMDR to process traumatic past events and build strengths,

• expressive therapies such as art, sandtray, or movement to see the places inside you that don't speak with words

• mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy to help you think through events and change behavioral patterns that are no longer useful.
