Therapeutic Style and Specialties:
I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment so clients can be
truly honest with themselves as well as with me. I am trained in a
variety of counseling theories and use whatever techniques will best
help each individual client. This includes talk therapy, CBT, EMDR, art
therapy and more. The focus of therapy may be on past traumas and hurts
and/or present day concerns.
I have over 30 years experience working with children and adults with a variety of concerns. These include abuse, car accidents, loss of loved ones, disasters, etc. I also focus on people going through transitions (mid-life, launching kids to college, divorce, etc.) and parenting concerns.
The unique part of my practice is the variety of ages I work with and the varied tools I use. With an extensive background in both Hospice Work and trauma, I work with people from 3 - 80 years old focusing on building a relationship of comfort, trust, acceptance, and HUMOR.
In addition to my private therapy practice, I also teach Introduction to Child Therapy at St. Martin's University, supervise therapists working towards licensure and provide consultation groups for therapists and other professionals.
