Therapeutic Style and Specialties:
I work with adults, couples and children experiencing a variety
of
stressors. My counseling expertise includes conflict
management, depression, anxiety, communication, grief and loss,
relationship
issues, life transitions,
and crisis management. I continue to study and incorporate interests
related to emotional health and relationships into my counseling
practice.
Therapeutic techniques employed include cognitive and behavioral theory, insight techniques, unconditional positive regard, and a healthy dose of humor. An integral part of my practice, EMDR, is used to build upon strengths, recover from current or previous crises/traumas, and to support movement toward a healthier, happier future.
I am an Imago, Level I, Couples' Therapist. In 2010, I completed a year-long, intensive Imago training program, an internationally known model with few providers in the Pacific Northwest. Imago theory is outlined in Harville Hendricks' popular book, Getting the Love You Want (1988).
