Therapeutic Style and Specialties:

Heather CampbellLife transitions, grief and loss, life closure, parent/child issues, family of origin, child loss, PTSD, personality disorders, depression and anxiety, and integration of body mind and spirit are all areas of focus. Since 1999 I have worked primarily with individuals and families coping with serious illnesses and death. I help clients understand, plan for, and process the dramatic shifts that occur as we age. Western culture traditionally has not adequately supported individuals in transition; and as a result people are often not only traumatized by a loss, an illness, or a death, but are doubly traumatized by the reactions and behaviors of friends, family, and even society-at-large.

My therapeutic approach is strength-based, client-centered and supportive using cognitive behavioral, DBT, solutions focused brief therapy,  and transpersonal therapy. I believe that the role of the counselor is to create opportunities for clients to feel empowered to facilitate their own healing process and to find and embrace the deeper meanings of their lives.

I am a member of the American Academy of Bereavement and the Association for Death Education and Counseling, and I am certified as an individual DBT therapist.

I accept Uniform, First Choice & Tricare.  I accept other insurances as an out-of-network provider.
